About Stitch Girl

Brigid (aka Stitch Girl) has been creating visual work for many years. As a student at Bennington College, her majors were painting and drawing.

However, she also spent many years as a potter, and sculptor.

She recognized the rubber innertubes going to the dumps and landfills by the thousands, a new material to manipulate. And so, as a newly self-taught seamstress, she is currently creating handbags, wallets, chokers, etc. made of recycled motorcycle and bicycle inner tubes, collected from local bike and motorcyle shops.

Each tube has it's own markings, and each item is completely different: one-of-a-kind! The material is soft, durable, water resistant, and the designs completely unique.

( The message here is to support your local small businesses! )
